The Chartwell LS6
The beautiful Chartwell LS6 is a natural development of the classic BBC lineage that gives us the LS3/5a and the LS5/9. The LS6 sits perfectly between both of these revered models and broadens the scope of useability of these existing BBC licenced monitor loudspeakers. The LS6 is a superb speaker, designed by Derek Hughes himeslf and hand made to order in the UK.
We are proud to be authorised Graham Audio/Chartwell dealers and always keep a range of these speakers on demo. We just love speakers built in this tradition. We have a history of collecting them, buying them, selling them and getting all sentimental about them!! In fact many of our best hours have been spent in front of a pair of LS3/5a or Spendor BC1 loudspeakers and we certainly do know how they sound and what incredible potential they have.
The LS6 is also available as a floorstanding model and is a perfect development of a classic design.
The Chartwell LS6
Following the success of the Graham Audio LS3/5 and LS5/9, Graham Audio were curious to discover what could be done with a cabinet that was sized somewhere between the two.
The result is the Chartwell LS6, designed by Derek Hughes. A custom built 6 inch long-throw bass drive unit mated to a compact 17 litre cabinet gives bass extension and power handling that is comparable to the LS5/9. The bespoke 19mm dome tweeter extends to beyond 20kHz. The overall response retains the smoothness of both the LS3/5 and LS5/9.
A large rear mounted port gives effortless bass, while allowing us to minimise the size of the cabinet to allow it to blend easily into typical domestic environments.
A sophisticated crossover network blends the two units and equalises the overall response for optimum performance in free space. A switch on the front baffle adjusts the tweeter level to +1dB or +2dB. This can be useful for situations where the listening position is off axis.
In common with all Graham Audio loudspeakers, the cabinet uses the classic BBC "thinwall" construction, where the panels are mass-loaded to ensure that resonances are moved away from the critical mid-range region, and a layer of Rockwool is held in place by fabric to provide air damping. Hand-matched veneers are applied and finished to a very high standard. The grille is carefully designed to minimise diffraction effects and is held in place by concealed rare-earth magnets.

Warranty
All Graham Audio loudspeakers are hand-built in the UK with the greatest of care and attention to detail. Each loudspeaker is tested and checked against our reference units, and is carefully auditioned before being packed and shipped.
All Graham Audio loudspeakers are guaranteed against defects in components and materials for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase. This warranty can be extended to 5 years at no cost once the loudspeakers have been registered with Graham Audio.
Within this period parts will be replaced free of charge provided that failure is not due to accident, negligence or misuse. Normal wear and tear is not included. Labour and carriage are not covered except by local agreement. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights.
