Edwards Audio TT5 Turntable with Superb A5 Tonearm and Fitted Cartridge
Edwards Audio TT5
The Edwards Audio TT5 turntable, complete with lid, proudly features the new in-house designed and manufactured A5 captive unipivot tonearm.
The TT range now comes with a striking Z-type perspex dust cover, colour co-ordinated to the deck. An example of such a dust cover can be seen in the last picture (Modelled on the lovely TT4 in grey!)
The Edwards Audio TT5 turntable, built by the well-established and revered Edwards Audio, home of Talk Electronics. This is a British built, superbly engineered and stunning looking turntable available in three finshes with perspex dust covers. We are very taken with this particular turntable here at Phonostage Audio and we will be keeping an Edwards Audio turntable here on demo!
This is excellent engineering at an excellent price!
By the way... a couple of things. Firstly sorry about the poor quality photo! I am waiting for some more to be sent over then I can update them. Secondly these decks are all made to order and there will be a bit of a lead time on these, maybe three weeks or so. Check with us first if you need anything more specific and we can check with Edwards Audio.
The medium mass tonearm is constructed from aluminium and is fitted with a 105-gram stainless counterweight. The output terminates to a pair of RCA sockets with separate ground, giving the user choice over their output cabling – these are located on the underside of the plinth.
The elegant 18mm Medite plinth is available in a satin black, red and white finish. Machined in-house the turntable boasts a 11mm acrylic platter and an aluminium hub which runs on a custom 18mm brass bearing housing with a 5mm steel thrust bearing.
This model also comes with an illuminated plinth and easy-adjust VTA using an adjustable collar.
The turntable is controlled by a 24V AC synchronous motor which in this new series of Edwards Audio turntables has been positioned to further reduce electromagnetic and mechanical noise. This has required the development of a new bespoke ‘big belter’ drive belt. The result allows for greater resolution of low level detail.
This turntable does require an element of setting up when it arrives. We recommend the use of stylus scales to set the weight accurately. These are inexpensive and widely available and we think everyone should have a set! (We never trust a dial on it's own!). We cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by incorrect set-up or set up attempts, so please be careful and consult with us if you need any help... We love to help and we love talking about turntables!
Also with regard to lead-times: If the model colour you select is in stock here or at Edwards Audio, you can expect to receive your order within a few days. However you may need to wait while your deck is made to order, in which case there could be a wait of two to three weeks. We definitely think these are worth the wait and we will keep in touch with you and with the nice chaps at Edwards Audio so you know where things are up to. Ask us of course if you have any questions.
Thanks all and happy listening!
NB Cartridge supplied will be the Talk Electronics C100 or the AT equivalent. Also - should you wish to upgrade further, the superb SC5 outboard speed controller is also available.
